A todos nos importa nuestro origen. Todos queremos saber más temprano que tarde de dónde venimos. Y si hablamos de tango, es importantísimo conocer y entender de dónde venimos. Aquellas grandes orquestas típicas de los años '40, '50, que luego dieron lugar a los conjuntos que hoy en día se siguen reproduciendo y cambiando en forma y contenido, toda esta rica historia tiene un origen. Desde la Guardia Vieja en adelante todo ha sido una vertiginosa evolución.
Dentro de esa historia, hoy quiero que hablemos de un grupo que realmente fue muy importante y del cual se suele hablar muy poco, se trata de la Orquesta Típica Select. Es importante conocerla y escucharla para entender un poco mejor la historia del tango.
Este es un disco que no puede faltar en ninguna discoteca fundamental. Un disco con una selección, en este caso un playlist, que reúne una buena cantidad de grabaciones del año 1920 que nos van a ayudar a entender mejor de qué está hecho el tango tal y como lo conocemos.

Hello tango friends!
We all care about our origin. We all want to know sooner rather than later where we come from. And if we’re talking about tango, it’s very important to know and understand where we come from. Those great orquestas típicas from the 1940s and 1950s later gave way to small ensembles that keep popping up, with different form and content. All this rich history has an origin. From the Guardia Vieja onwards everything has been a vertiginous evolution.
And within that history today, I want to talk about one group that was truly very important and which is rarely talked about. We’re going to talk about the Orquesta Típica Select. It’s important to know it and to listen to it to understand the history of tango a little better.
This is a record that can’t be absent from any fundamental record collection. A record with a selection, in this case a playlist, that gathers a good amount of recordings from the year 1920 which will help us understand and enjoy more what tango as we know it is made of.
