¿Horacio Salgán, Pedro Láurenz y Enrique Mario Francini juntos en un mismo grupo? Increíble pero real, sucedió en 1959 y duró casi diez años. Una analogía futbolera sería pensar en un equipo en el que jugaran juntos Messi, Maradona y Pelé. Parece ciencia ficción.
Formado sobre la base del dúo que desde 1958 integraba el pianista Horacio Salgán junto a Ubaldo De Lío en guitarra eléctrica, el Quinteto Real tocó desde sus inicios un repertorio con muchos clásicos populares y siempre con arreglos de Salgán. La formación original estuvo integrada por el bandoneonista Pedro Láurenz, el violinista Enrique Mario Francini y el contrabajista Rafael Ferro (quien había tocado en la orquesta de Salgán). Posteriormente Ferro fue reemplazado por Kicho Díaz y luego éste por Omar Murtagh.
El arte del Quinteto Real fue único en el tango, el equilibrio entre buena música, entretenimiento y alegría que lograron estos cinco solistas no tiene un solo ejemplo que le compita. Para los que aún piensan que el tango es triste, escuchen este disco, sorpréndanse y empiecen a saltar de alegría.

Hello tango friends!
Horacio Salgán, Pedro Láurenz, and Enrique Mario Francini together in the same group? Unbelievable but true, it happened in 1959 and lasted almost ten years. A soccer analogy would be to imagine a team where Messi, Maradona and Pelé played together. It seems like science fiction.
Formed on the basis of the duo that pianist Horacio Salgán had been part of since 1958 with Ubaldo De Lío on electric guitar, the Quinteto Real played from the beginning a repertoire with many popular classics, always with arrangements by Salgán. The original lineup included bandoneonist Pedro Láurenz, violinist Enrique Mario Francini, and double bassist Rafael Ferro (who had played in Salgán's orchestra). Later, Ferro was replaced by Kicho Díaz and then by Omar Murtagh.
The art of the Quinteto Real was unique in tango, the balance between good music, entertainment, and joy achieved by these five soloists has no single example to compete with it. For those who still think that tango is sad, listen to this record, be surprised, and start jumping for joy.
